Brief client-centered experiential psychotherapy

ARTICLELeijssen, Mia - 44–1 (2006)

SUMMARY

There is a possibility to attain better results when the therapist offers more active ways to speed up and deepen out the therapeutic process. Anchor points and process directivity for a more efficient approach can be found in the different suborientations of the client-centered experiential paradigm. Apart from agreement about the time limit, the focus of the treatment is also chosen and stagnation of the therapeutic process can be remedied with specific interventions. This is concretised in practice with a case. Brief treatment not only supposes competence but also discipline and the courage to take calculated risks. The pitfalls proper to this therapeutic approach are also put into focus
