Towards a bio-psycho-spiritual view on humanity as the foundation for a spiritual psychotherapy

ARTICLEVroegop, Peter - 45–3 (2007)

SUMMARY

As far as its relation to psychotherapy is concerned, I think that the concept of spirituality has not been clearly defined. In order to create more clarity in this matter I introduce a perception model, as well as various notions like ‘existential’ and ‘transcendental’ spirituality, and Tiller’s concept of ‘subtle energies’ that help to point out those realities (and their perception) that are not physically noticeable through the senses. Through a series of indicative steps I arrive at a bio-psycho-spiritual view of humanity as a starting point for a (transcendent) spiritual psychotherapy, and I ask the question whether a training or a course in this direction is desirable or not.
