This article is the textual version of a workshop that was given on the PCE World Convention in Potsdam on July 15, 2006. It designs a process in which we can reach a person-centered understanding of a person that is bothered by incongruences that are multiplied by an addiction. Miller and Rollnick’s person-centered concept of the ‘motivational interview’ is given a conceptual position, and some principles for intervention are suggested that specifically target the ambivalence of the addicted person towards his incongruence.
