Discussion of ‘The National Debate on Psychotherapy’ (13-06-2007), aimed at a critical reflection on DBC, evidence-based, guidelines and working with a protocol. And also a critical discussion of the growing amount of advertisement, and a certain attitude in our working field. It seems that some of our colleagues are set on convincing the health insurance companies to only pay for short, protocol-based psychotherapies, based on the current guidelines. But that foregoes a lot of scientific research. The possibilities of a person-centered approach are wrongfully overlooked. And it makes psychotherapy seem to be only aimed at symptom reduction; as if the psychotherapists and their clients could no longer see those symptoms as meaningful signals.
The tPeP (Journal Person-centered experiential Psychotherapy) is the scientific journal for Dutch and Flemish psychotherapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists, that work from, or are interested in a client-centered perspective.
