In this article, Gloria's interviews with Carl Rogers, Frederick Perls and Albert Ellis (Shostrom, 1965) are compared using Sachse's processing scales (Sachse, 1990). As was to be expected, Rogers' processing proposals were relatively the highest at the levels 6 and 7, while Perls scored high on level 4, and Ellis' proposals were scored extremely high on level 2.
In addition we analysed Rogers' non-directive attitude in relation to his position ten years later when interviewing Kathy (Shostrom, 1975). Rogers claimed to have changed in his relationships with clients towards more openness and `presence'. This was confirmed by our findings. In his interview with Kathy he was indeed more guiding than in his interview with Gloria.
