The banks of the river

ARTICLESüle, Árpi - 46–1 (2008)

SUMMARY

In the fist part of this article I reflect on the meaning of the word ‘border’, using some examples from everyday life. In a next step, I aim to apply some of the findings of this reflection to the psychotherapeutic relationship. In a third part I will put forward a model that enables us to look at borders from the perspective of the reflective process that is developed between client and therapist.

KEYWORDS

conceptual analysis of the ‘border’ concept, therapeutic spaces, therapeutic interaction

The tPeP (Journal Person-centered experiential Psychotherapy) is the scientific journal for Dutch and Flemish psychotherapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists, that work from, or are interested in a client-centered perspective.
