This article investigates the client-centered approach in New York City. During my three years
of living in New York City, I only found ten client-centered trained psychotherapists. This
seemed remarkable and puzzling to me. Through interviews and a research of literature, I
began to look for the underlying explanation of the near absence of ‘Rogers in New York City’.
The paper concludes with my reflections on ‘why’.
