This article depicts how the authors got introduced to ‘Klärungsorientierte Psychotherapie’
(KOP), a model developed by Sache, and several aspects of it will be explained. Sache views
personality disorders as disorders of interaction, which result from insufficient fulfilment of
basic needs in childhood. It discusses to which schemes and behaviour (games) they may
lead, as well as problematic issues that may arise within the therapeutic relationship. This
article concludes with a case study and a reflection of the authors on their personal experiences
with this model.
