This article will take you on a search for what discerns the brand of personcentered therapy from that of other therapeutic directions. Based on her own evolution as a clientcentered therapist the author will consider what directions personcentered therapy took over time. Many of its features remained stable but to define ourselves as the sum of some characteristics ignores the underlying paradigm. It is shown that, at a time when the red carpet is rolled out for the dominance of the medical model in mental health care based on the values of neoliberalism, the personcentered paradigm is still controversial.
