Focusing with a tangle

ARTICLEChris Van de Veire, Sofie Verdegem en Isolde Roose - 58–1 (2020)

SUMMARY

The authors describe the model developed by Ann Weiser Cornell and Barbara McGavin, based on the ideas of Eugene Gendlin, using focusing to work with a tangle. An empathic relationship is installed with the partial selves that belong to the tangle, using an inviting language and starting from an attitude of being self-in-presence. Some case illustrations illuminate how the therapist deals with these partial selves to bring about a transformation within the tangle and within the client’s entire life.
