Clients with eating disorders are preoccupied with food, weight and body-image. Behind these symptoms is hidden a lack of identity and self-confidence. When focused on the symptoms, client-centered treatment is possible. The way in which the client-centered therapist deals with the symptoms stimulates inner process and autonomy. A case study with many examples shows how a client-centered approach leads to improvement of the eating disorder and self-confidence. A client-centered therapist who is not afraid of symptoms can treat eating disorders effectively!
